| IMPORTANT NOTICE Incorrect installation will cause rapid failure of water tanks due to electrolysis. It is vital that this risk is reduced by the use of dielectric connections, isolation of the tank supports, and regular anode servicing. Installers must be aware of correct procedures. For assistance, call 1-800-421-9395. MANWAYS Tanks are shipped with manways in place but not tightened. Follow correct installation procedures before filling tank. EPOXY LINED TANKS These linings are sprayed in multiple coats onto a sandblasted surface. In their liquid form, they contain solvents that have a distinctive odor. Although they are force cured after coating, it is advisable to leave them open to air dry for as long as possible before filling the tank. This will lessen the likelihood of any temporary odor in the hot water system at startup. GLASS LINED TANKS Irregularities in the surface finish are normal and do not affect the serviceability of the vessel. Anodes should be checked and cleaned every six months. Should their diameter be reduced by 20 percent or more, they should be replaced. See prices below: CEMENT LINED TANKS Cement lined tanks must be kept closed so that the cement can remain moist and will cure without cracking. Please observe the sticker by the manway. ALL TANKS Fill system and run at operating temperature for at least one day in a closed loop mode. Then drain system, open tank, and wipe clean. SUGGESTED WATER STANDARDS FOR MAXIMUM TANK LIFE (a) The Langelier index is widely accepted to determine the corrosive effects of some of the dissolved materials in water. The index was published in the October 1936 issue of the AMERICAN WATER WORKS JOURNAL. This index with subsequent corrections, is available from Hanson at no charge. The index should equal 0 or more. (Any quantity below 0 will indicate a water condition that can be considered corrosive. Conversely, any quantity above 0 will result in some precipitation of solids in solution, which will reduce the efficiency of the system.) (b) The water ph should be between 6 and 8. ANODES All glass lined tanks are supplied with 25 grams of anode per sq.ft. of tank area. List prices below are for replacements (all 1 1/4″ dia.) plus $44 per anode for the tapping, when installed in a new cement-lined tank. (We do not install anodes in epoxy lined tanks, as blistering of the lining may occur.) Flexible anodes are available in 12″ increments only. Rigid up to 66″ only. |
